The LPG Workplace Safety & Appliance Use Training course is a practical one-day programme designed for employees and workers who use LPG appliances or work in environments where LPG systems are installed.

The course focuses on the safe day-to-day use of LPG appliances, hazard awareness, emergency response and the responsibilities of employees working around gas systems.

It is not a gas fitting course and does not involve cutting into gas lines, repairing gas equipment or carrying out regulated installation work. The emphasis is on helping workplace personnel use LPG safely, recognise warning signs and respond appropriately when something is wrong.

This programme is suitable for:

• employees who regularly use LPG appliances

• kitchen and hospitality staff

• maintenance and operational personnel

• facilities staff

• site supervisors

• health and safety representatives

• institutional employees

• staff working in restaurants, hotels, schools, hospitals, factories and other premises where LPG is used

• workers who may need to respond to an LPG-related emergency

No previous gas fitting knowledge is required.

The programme provides practical guidance on:

• basic LPG properties and behaviour

• recognising common LPG hazards

• safe use of gas appliances

• correct start-up and shutdown practices

• basic visual checks before using LPG equipment

• recognising signs of gas leaks or abnormal appliance operation

• understanding flame appearance and common warning signs

• reporting faults and unsafe conditions

The emphasis is on safe behaviour, early recognition of problems and correct escalation.

This is a one-day course delivered on site at the client’s premises.

On-site delivery allows the training to be related directly to the environment in which employees actually work and the types of LPG appliances and systems they encounter.

Training includes:

• instructor-led presentations

• practical safety demonstrations

• discussion of appliances used at the client’s premises

• safe operating procedures

There is no mandatory assessment as part of the standard course.

Participants who complete the programme receive a Gas Uni Certificate of Attendance.

Where a client requires employees to be assessed, a knowledge assessment or competency check can be incorporated into the programme by prior arrangement.

This can be useful where the organisation needs to confirm that staff understand the LPG safety, appliance-use and emergency procedures covered during the training.
